CHICAGO, IL [MW Communications] - Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral welcomes LYRA, a vocal ensemble from St. Petersburg, Russia, on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 7:00 PM. LYRA will present a concert of liturgical and folk music at the cathedral, located at 1121 N. Leavitt Street in Chicago. Holy Trinity is the last remaining Louis H. Sullivan-designed church in the world. It is listed on the National Register and is an official City of Chicago Landmark.

The repertoire includes compositions from famous Russian masters such as Bortniansky, Tchesnokov, Gretchaninov, and Tchaikovsky. In LYRA’s 2004 tour, the Washington Post wrote that their performance produced “a pure a cappella sound that could both fill the intimate space and drop to an edge-of-your-seat whisper, and the ensemble coordination remained impeccable through even the most complex polyphony.”

The cathedral is asking for a donation of $20.00 per person. Free parking will be available behind the cathedral with entrances to the parking lot at Haddon and via the alley entrance on Thomas and Leavitt.

For further information on the event, please contact Gregory Ealy, Holy Trinity's Director of Music Ministries, at 914-274-1164 or gregory.ealy@gmail.com, or call the church office at 773-486-6064 or visit
