St Nicholas Orthodox Church, Pella, Iowa, celebrated the Great Vespers for their Patronal Feast on Tuesday, December 5. Fr Bartholomew Wojcik is the priest-in-charge.
The new mission, and the only OCA parish in Iowa, had a full house of more than 40 for the celebration. Local area Protestant pastors also attended. Fr Basil Hickman, St George Greek Orthodox Church in Des Moines concelebrated with Fr Bartholemew.
At the conclusion of the service the parish offered a free spaghetti dinner, only asking that people bring a non-perishable food item for the local food pantry.
