BURBANK, IL [DOM Communications] – Echoing the call to prayer from His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, His Eminence Archbishop Paul also requests that the clergy and faithful of the Diocese of the Midwest remember Metropolitan Theodosius, who is in what appears to be the final stage of his earthly sojourn. “We have had His Beatitude on our diocesan prayer list for some time now, but this is a time when we must increase our prayers for God’s mercy on him, and his family,” said Archbishop Paul.
Metropolitan Theodosius was consecrated as the bishop of Alaska in May 1967. In May 1970, he was the head of the delegation that received the tomos of autocephaly for the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) in Moscow. In 1972, he was assigned as the bishop of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania. In 1977, he was elected as the primate of the OCA, and served in that capacity until July 21, 2002, when he retired due to his health.
