BRONXVILLE, NY [NY/NJ COMS] – The Department of Youth Ministry is sponsoring a Virtual Winter Retreat for Teens in Grades 7-12 on Wednesday, December 30, 2020. There is no fee to participate. The day will begin at 11:30 AM EST and be split into two sessions (11:30am-2:30pm and 6:30-8:30pm). A tentative schedule has been put together, which is also available here.
Our discussions will focus on Saint Herman of Alaska in honor of the 50th Anniversary of his canonization, in addition to sainthood and holiness. An opening reflection will be offered by His Eminence, Archbishop Michael at the start of the event, and our guest speaker, Archpriest Benjamin Tucci, will lead our sessions with Danielle Geeza. God-willing, we will even take a virtual field trip to Kodiak, Alaska.
All teens in Grades 7-12 are invited and encouraged to attend. Invitations are also extended to other OCA dioceses and Orthodox jurisdictions. We look forward to welcoming both familiar and new faces!
The beauty of having a virtual event is that you are free to “come and go” as you wish. While we encourage everyone to be with us for both sessions to get the most out of the day and enjoy fellowship, we will not be keeping attendance!
Teens may register here until December 29th. Please note that a link to the live session will be sent out closer to December 30th, as the number of registrants will determine which virtual meeting platform will be used.
In addition to Father Benjamin and Danielle, several youth workers have been asked to support the event to ensure that all runs smoothly. Because of this, we are not soliciting “chaperones.”
Please email any questions to our Youth Department Chairperson, Danielle Geeza.
