BURBANK, IL [DOM Communications] – In only a few short days, clergy and faithful will be gathering for the 60 Diocesan Assembly of the Midwest. As previously announced, the assembly will be held at Archangel Michael Church, located in Broadview Heights in the Greater Cleveland Area of Ohio.
The assembly’s theme, “The Sanctification of Time,” will be the focus throughout the three-day event. In a letter to participants, Philip Sokolov, the Secretary to the Archbishop, introduced the guest speaker, Archpriest Stephan Meholick, Rector of Saint Nicholas Church in Marin County, California, who will be offering a spiritual reflection regarding this theme.
Mr. Sokolov also drew attention to the start of the assembly on Monday evening; “the initial Plenary Session, including the Address of the Archbishop, will take place on the evening of Monday, 11 October. Registrants from regions of the Diocese other than Cleveland are urged to arrive no later than 5:00 p.m. on 11 October, and to schedule departing flights for no earlier than 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 13 October.”
Other highlights of this year’s assembly include an increase of liturgical services, a welcome dinner on Monday evening, and elections for Diocesan Council. As the protectress of the diocese, the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God will also be traveling from the Diocesan Cathedral to the Cleveland area for veneration.
