CHICAGO, IL [DOM] – His Grace Bishop Daniel of Santa Rosa, Locum Tenens of the Diocese of the Midwest, concludes his most recent visit to Chicago having attended funeral services for His Eminence Archbishop Paul and visiting several of the Chicago parishes.
Bishop Daniel arrived in Chicago on April 25, Bright Monday, after the falling asleep of Archbishop Paul to pray for his brother bishop. Throughout that time, His Grace accompanied Archbishop Paul’s body and oversaw the services during this important event in the life of the diocese, both in Chicago and Michigan.
The burial of Archbishop Paul took place on April 28, Bright Thursday, at Holy Dormition Monastery. On the following day, April 29, Bishop Daniel severed Divine Liturgy with His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel of Detroit for the feast of the Lifegiving Font of the Mother of God. Before departing for Chicago, Bishop Daniel offered prayers before the grave of Archbishop Paul.
After returning to Chicago, on Saturday, April 30, His Grace attended evening services at Christ the Savior Church in Chicago, IL and served at the Diocesan Cathedral, Holy Trinity Cathedral on Sunday. Bishop Daniel also visited St. George Cathedral in Chicago, IL, earlier this week.
