DOM Represented at 119th Pilgrimage of America’s Oldest Monastery

SOUTH CANAAN, PA [DOM] – The 119th Annual Pilgrimage to Saint Tikhon’s Monastery was held from May 26 to May 29, 2023. On Memorial Day, Monday May 29, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon presided at the celebration of the Divine Liturgy.

Concelebrating with His Beatitude was His Eminence Metropolitan Nicolai, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia, His Eminence Archbishop Melchisedek of Pittsburg, His Eminence Archbishop Michael of New York, Archpriest Alexander Rentel, Chancellor for the Orthododx Church in America, Archimandrite Sergius, Abbot, Archpriest John Parker, Seminary Dean, Priest Alexander Koranda, Cathedral Dean, and numerous visiting clergy. His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest was schedule to participate in the annual pilgrimage but was unable due to poor health. His Eminence sent Fr. Alexander to represent the Diocese.

His Beatitude delivered a homily and during the Liturgy seminarian Seraphim Robertson was ordained to the diaconate. The liturgical responses were sung by the St. Tikhon’s Festival choir under the direction of Benedict Sheehan and was the liturgical premiere of Sheehan’s Liturgy No. 2: The St. Michael’s Service.

Later that evening, Fr. Alexander took the seminarians and their families out to dinner on behalf of the Archbishop. Father expressed the Archbishop’s warm greetings and congratulations to the diocesan seminarians on the completion of the academic year.
