RIVES JUNCTION, MI [DOM] – His Eminence, Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest, was the honored guest of His Eminence, Archbishop Nathaniel of Detroit and the Romanian Episcopate, at the annual pilgrimage to the Holy Dormition Monastery in Rives Junction, MI, August 14-15. This pilgrimage customarily brings clergy and faithful from all over the Midwest to celebrate the patronal feast of the beloved monastery.
Upon his arrival at the monastery, His Eminence was greeted by Abbess Gabriella, and then served a Panikhida at the grave of his predecessor, the ever-memorable Archbishop Paul of Chicago. Later that evening, Archbishop Daniel served Vigil with the Lamentations at the Tomb of the Mother of God, according to the Jerusalem use. On the following day, the Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God, the Archbishop was the main celebrant of the outdoor Divine Liturgy in the monastery pavilion. After the divine services, a festive meal was offered. His Eminence also presided at the service of Holy Unction later that afternoon, which concluded the monastery’s annual patronal celebration and pilgrimage.
