CHICAGO, IL [DOM] – The Diocesan Feast of the Wonderworking Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God was celebrated by His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest on June 25 and June 26 at the Diocesan Cathedral, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Chicago, IL.
The feast began with the celebration of the All Night Vigil on the Thursday evening. The Archbishop was joined by clergy from the Chicago Deanery. The Chicago Deanery Male Choir sang the responses under the direction of Reader Philip Sokolov.
On Friday, June 26, at the invitation of Archbishop Daniel, the Hierarchical Liturgy was presided over by His Grace Bishop Spyridon of Chicago adn Mid-America (ROCOR). Serving with the hierarchs were Archpriest Herman Kincaid, Chancellor, Priest Alexander Koranda, Cathedral Dean, Mitered Archpriest Vladimir Kovalchuk, Priest Nikolai Lochmatow, Priest Jacob VanSickle, Priest John Kennerk, Priest Anthony Saunders, Protodeacon Alexander Kichakov, Deacon Paul Garklavs, and Deacon Timothy Heinbokel. The choir was directed by Reader Vladimir Lymar.
Following the Divine Liturgy, a prayer to the Mother of God was read.
The Archbishop welcomed Bishop Spyridon and expressed his gratitude to all who came to keep this important feast.
Following the Divine Liturgy, a reception was held in the Cathedral Courtyard.
