MIDWEST DIOCESE EPISCOPAL NOMINATION PERIOD DRAWING TO CLOSECHICAGO, IL [MW COMMUNICATIONS] — The March 26, 2010 deadline for the nomination of candidates to become the next Bishop of Chicago and the Midwest is looming, according to members of the Episcopal Selection Committee, who noted the deadline in their weekly conference call held last evening.
“If someone wishes to share a name with us, now is the time, ” said Archpriest John Zdinak, a member of the committee and diocesan Chancellor. “We opened nominations on February 16, and we have had numerous outstanding candidates nominated by letter, fax and email. We are grateful for all the names given to us, but want to remind the diocese — and the entire OCA — that there is still time to suggest names for consideration.” Nominations may be sent by email to: mdorosh@domoca.org, or by surface mail in care of the: Episcopal Search Committee927 N LaSalle StChicago, IL 60610
“As we announced at the beginning of this process, no further names will be considered after the list closes on March 26,” Father John added. “This is to ensure that every candidate who accepts nomination has time to be undergo the required psychological and background checks, as well as to arrange their schedules for the interview process.”
According to the timeline adopted by the Diocese, and made public last month, the Diocesan Council will meet in June to officially nominate three candidates. These three will then be presented to the Diocese over the summer through video interviews, culminating in the opportunity for all the clergy to meet the candidates in person at the annual Clergy Convocation, slated to be held in Chicago in late August. The choice of a nominee — or nominees — to be presented for election by Holy Synod is scheduled to take place at the next Diocesan Assembly, to be held in Minneapolis, MN at the beginning of October.
