Chicago site of Diaconal Liturgical Practicum January 3-4, 2013
CHICAGO, IL [MW Diocese Communications] — The Diocese of the Midwest will host a practicum for deacons and those studying for future service in the diaconate January 3-4, 2013, at Christ the Savior Church, Chicago, IL.
Archdeacon Kirill Sokolov, Director of the Diaconal Vocations Program of the Orthodox Church in America, will lead the sessions.
Practical liturgical training for deacons and lay diaconal candidates will be supported by the celebration of the Divine Liturgy and other services. Attention will be given to the liturgical patterns of movement that inform the entire rite of the Church. While brief, this practicum will be a rigorous reintroduction to the divine services that will provide participants with toolsets as their study of liturgical serving.
Participation is limited so that personal instruction and interaction can be maximized. Deadline for registration is December 15, 2012.
Registration for the practicum and meals is $150.00 per participant. Participants should plan to arrive in time for opening prayers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 3. The practicum will conclude with Royal Hours beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 4.
