Bishop Paul to make first visit to Detroit February 21-22

DETROIT, MI [MW Diocese Communications] — His Grace, Bishop Paul of Chicago and the Midwest and a native of Detroit, will make his first visit to Detroit since his episcopal consecration to Holy Trinity Church, 20500 Anglin Street, on February 21-22, 2015.

Bishop Paul to make first visit to Detroit February 21-22Bishop Paul was born in Detroit on in 1953 and consecrated to the episcopacy in Chicago on December 27, 2014.  He will visit Holy Trinity Church for Great Vespers on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and celebrate the Divine Liturgy the following morning at 9:30 a.m.

The parish’s rector, Archpriest Lev Kopistiansky, will serve Great Vespers and concelebrate the Liturgy with Bishop Paul.  Liturgical responses will be sung by the parish choir under the direction of Matushka Victoria Kopistiansky.

“We are honored to have Bishop Paul visit us so soon after his consecration,” Father Lev said.  “We ask for his blessing and spiritual guidance.  To him we say, ‘Many years, O Master!’”

Holy Trinity is celebrating its centennial this year.  Founded in 1915 by Russian and Ukranian speaking immigrants, the parish is one of the oldest in Detroit.
