Chicago’s landmark Holy Trinity Cathedral to host annual holiday cookie walk
CHICAGO, IL [Holy Trinity Cathedral] — Holy Trinity Cathedral will host its annual Holiday Cookie Walk December 17-18, 2016. A large variety of homemade holiday cookies will be available for sale by the pound in the parish hall at 1121 North Leavitt St., Chicago, on Saturday, December 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 18, from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. or until supplies run out. Individually priced handmade candies and pet treats will also be available.
Cathedral members supply homemade baked goods ranging from chocolate chip and sugar cookies to kolacky and baklava.
“We have some patrons that make sure they are first to arrive every year in order to get the best selection,” said Matushka Melania Adamcio, event organizer and President of the Martha and Mary Sisterhood. “In the past we’ve counted over 50 different varieties of cookies, not to mention the homemade pet treats and candies.”
The sale will include a limited quantity of gluten free baked goods for purchase. All proceeds will benefit Holy Trinity Cathedral and its various ministries. The parish is also asking visitors to donate canned or dry goods to its ongoing collection for local food pantries.
Holy Trinity Cathedral is the See of the Orthodox Church in America’s Diocese of the Midwest. Located at the corner of Leavitt and Haddon Streets in Chicago’s Ukrainian Village neighborhood, it was built in 1903, and is the last remaining church designed by renowned architect, Louis H. Sullivan. It is a City of Chicago Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
