Bishop Paul to host first-ever Virtual Youth Retreat

Bishop Paul to host first-ever Virtual Youth Retreat

Bishop Paul to host first-ever Virtual Youth RetreatCHICAGO, IL [MW Diocese Youth] — On the evening of Friday, October 27, 2017, His Grace, Bishop Paul will lead a discussion with pre-teens and teens during the first-ever diocesan on-line youth retreat.  Youth in grades six through 12 are invited to participate in this event being hosted at four parishes in Ohio, Illinois, Kansas and Minnesota.

“With such a large diocese, it’s not financially possible to bring our youth together in one place as often as we’d like,” explained Priest Benjamin Tucci, Diocesan Youth Director.  “His Grace has encouraged us to find new ways to connect with our young people, including the creative use of technology.  So we’re happy to host the first-ever virtual event bringing our pre-teens and teens together with Bishop Paul for an evening video chat via teleconference.”

The overnight retreat will begin at 7:00 p.m. local time, and at 7:30 p.m. CT (8:30 p.m. ET), Bishop Paul will lead participants in prayer and then speak to the youth about leading a “Life in Christ.”

Bishop Paul encourages as many youth as possible to join him for conversation and a virtual event to understand the importance of keeping Christ at the center of our lives.  “With so many challenges in today’s world, I want this virtual gathering to be an opportunity for our teens and young people to speak with me about their concerns and interests, and for them to know that I am praying for each of them,” said Bishop Paul.

Bishop Paul to host first-ever Virtual Youth Retreat“After His Grace speaks with the youth, participants at each of the four host locations will explore the topics off-line and come up with their own ideas and ways to lead a life in Christ,” Father Benjamin added.  “They will then rejoin His Grace later that same evening to share with him their thoughts and ideas for how they can keep Christ at the heart of their personal lives.”

Host parishes for the retreat include Saint Innocent Church, Olmsted Falls, OH; Saint Luke Church, Palos Hills, IL; Holy Trinity Church, Overland Park, KS; and Saint Mary Cathedral, Minneapolis, MN.

Youth interested in attending should register before October 15 at http://bit.ly/mw-oct2017-retreat-registration.  Once registered, youth will receive information about this unique event and suggestions for what to bring for the overnight retreat.
