In Memoriam: Matushka Marilyn Federoff
ELYRIA, OH [MW Diocese Communications] — Visitation and funeral services for Matushka Marilyn Federoff, 73, wife of the late Priest Theodore Federoff, will be held at Saints Peter and Paul Church, Lorain, OH on Saturday, January 5, 2019. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at noon. Archpriest Basil Stoyka and Priest Joseph McCartney will officiate. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Interment will be held at Saint Theodosius Cemetery, Cleveland, OH at 3:00 p.m.
Matushka Marilyn fell asleep in the Lord on Monday, December 31, 2018 at University Hospital Elyria Medical Center following chronic illnesses.
Born in Cleveland, OH to John and Mary [Clements] Petrinka on May 17, 1945, she graduated from Lincoln High School and Ohio Wesleyan University. She also earned a master’s degree from Indiana University in Pennsylvania.
Matushka Marilyn and her late husband, Father Theodore, served parishes in New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio before settling in Elyria, where she was employed as a program manager within the State of Ohio Department Rehabilitation and Correction system for 35 years. She retired from the Grafton Correctional Institute. She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Church, Lorain. In her youth, she enjoyed dancing, music and the arts. She was active in Church life, served as a choir director and was always the most helpful person inside and outside of work.
Matushka Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Father Theodore, and her parents. Survivors include two sons, Dr. Theodore [Carol] Federoff, Williamsport, PA, and Jason [Pam] Federoff, Boerne, TX, and six grandchildren, Theodora “Thea,” Keegan [Alexis], Alexander, Jason Jr., Logan and Isabella.
