Washington D.C. [DOM Communications] — On Friday, January 24, His Grace Bishop Paul joined His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon and other Orthodox bishops at the 47th March for Life in Washington D.C.
The event started with Divine Liturgy for the feast of Saint Xenia of St. Petersburg at the Primatial Cathedral of the Orthodox Church in America. His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon, addressed the hierarchs, clergy, and faithful before leaving for the march, reminding them to “proclaim life with the Defender of Life, our Lord Jesus Christ.”
In addition to Metropolitan Tikhon and Bishop Paul, the Orthodox delegation was led by His Eminence Archbishop Melchisedek of Pittsburgh, His Eminence Archbishop Michael of New York, His Eminence Archbishop David of Sitka, and His Grace Bishop Daniel of Santa Rosa. His Grace Bishop Thomas of the Antiochian Archdiocese in North America and His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the USA, His Grace Bishop Apostolos of Medeia also marched as part of the delegation.
Faculty and students from St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary and St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary were well represented, along with numerous clergy and faithful from the surrounding region.
On Thursday evening before the March, His Grace was part of the delegation that attended the Mass at the 
National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. They were welcomed by Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann of Kansas City, chairman of the Committee on Pro-Life Activities for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
The March for Life is an annual rally protesting both the practice and legality of abortion around the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. The mission of the march is to “End abortion by uniting, educating, and mobilizing anti-abortion people in the public square.”
