YONKERS, NY [SVS] – Apply for the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) at St Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary! In order to accommodate Holy Week and Pascha, the application deadline for the D.Min. program has been extended to June 1, 2024.
The Doctor of Ministry program is welcoming applications for its 2027 cohort, to begin classes in Fall 2024. This hybrid degree program is designed to enhance and enrich the practice of ministry for ordained and lay ministers in the Orthodox Church.
Students in the program complete eight hybrid core courses while living at home via distance learning which includes:
– online video presentations
– threaded discussions
– conference calls and webinars
The use of distance learning technology allows priests, chaplains, and other pastoral professionals to do doctoral study at St Vladimir’s Seminary while maintaining their current ministries. In fact, students are required to be engaged in full-time practice of ministry during the program in order to best integrate theory and practice. Students are also required to attend four one-week on-campus intensives during the course of the program. These meetings are held on the St Vladimir’s Seminary campus in late fall and mid summer.
2017 D.Min. graduate, Fr Theophan Whitfield, describes his experience in the D.Min. program at St Vladimir’s Seminary as one that “nurtures both calling and skill…providing an excellent opportunity to pause and learn more about the many and novel pastoral challenges we face in the parish.” Most importantly, he says, “the D.Min. experience is strengthening my identity and calling as an Orthodox pastor.”
