DES PLAINS, IL [DOM] – Tuesday, December 17 marked the 40th day of repose for His Eminence Archbishop Peter of Chicago and Mid America for the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. The Mid American diocese hosted the 40th day memorial at Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral, Des Plains, IL, their Diocesan Cathedral.
His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest concelebrated the Divine Liturgy with His Eminence Longin, Archbishop of New Gracanica – Chicago and Metropolitan of Midwestern America, His Eminence Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada, and His Grace Bishop Seraphim of Kostajnica. The Archbishop was accompanied by Priest Alexander Koranda, Priest Nikolai Lochmatow, and Deacon Nikola Tambur.
Following the liturgy a memorial service was sung and a memorial meal was held in the fellowship hall. During the lunch, memories of Archbishop Peter were offered and a video was shown showing a part of the life and work of the late Archbishop.
