DES PLAINS, IL [DOM] – His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest participated in the celebration of His Eminence Archbishop Peter’s twentieth anniversary of consecration as a bishop. The celebration took place on Wednesday, July 12, at the Protection of the Virgin Cathedral (ROCOR), Des Plains, IL.
His Eminence co-celebrated with His Eminence Metropolitan Nikolai, Metropolitan of New York and Eastern America, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Metropolitan Nicolae of the Americas, Archbishop Peter of Chicago and Mid-America, Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada, Bishop Longin of New Gracanica-Midwest America, Bishop John of Caracas and South America. Joining Archbishop Daniel in representing the Diocese of the Midwest was Priest Alexander Koranda, Cathedral Dean.
At the conclusion of Divine Liturgy, His Eminence offered words of congratulations to Archbishop Peter on behalf of the clergy and the faithful of the diocese, expressing his gratitude, not only for his work for the Orthodox Christians in the region, but also for his brotherly love and cooperation between the local churches.
At the conclusion of the liturgy, a festive meal was held, and gifts were exchanged in honor of the occasion.
