Archbishop greets DOM seminarians at the beginning of the academic year

CHICAGO, IL [DOM] – On Monday, August 25, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest greeted his seminarians and offered his prayers for the beginning of the school year.

The diocese currently has 14 students and is preparing for the annual “Support Our Seminarians” fund raiser throughout the month of September.

Beloved Sons in Christ,

I greet you and extend my blessing to you as you begin the 2025-2026 academic year. Your theological education and pastoral formation are key to your future ministry within Christ’s Holy Church. I am certain that you will dedicate yourselves to these foundational elements of your seminary education without forgetting other elements that are also key- your spiritual and personal formation. As I mentioned at the recent seminarian retreat: be students, not teachers. Sit as disciples at the feet of those who instruct you. Be attentive to the voice of the Lord speaking to you through His Church.

I assure you of my prayers for each one of you, your families, and those who know, love, and support you. May Christ the High Priest and the Shepherd of our Souls continue to inspire you in your desire to serve His Church. May His Most Pure Mother, our Sovereign Lady, invoked and honored in her Tikhvin Icon, protect and guard you on this journey.

May He Who has begun this good work in you bring it to perfection on the day of Christ Jesus!
