Archbishop of Chicago returns from Holy Land

CHICAGO, IL [DOM] — Pilgrims have returned back to America after a ten day trip visiting sacred sites in the Holy Land.

His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest lead clergy and faithful on a pilgrimage that took place May 14 through May 24. Many sites where visited including, the Sea of Galilee, Mt of the Beatitudes –
Capernaum (Monastery of the Holy Apostles), Tiberias (Monastery of the 12 Apostles), Nazareth: Annunciation – Cana of Galilee, Transfiguration – Mt Tabor – Caesarea and many other holy sites.

Other highlights include His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem receiving the pilgrims from America and offered those gathered a word and blessed their travels. Archbishop Daniel greeted His Beatitude and the two hierarchs exchanged gifts. On Sunday, May 21, His Eminence and traveling clergy served at the St. Mary Magdalene Monastery and venerated the relics of the Martyrs Elizabeth and Barbara.
