Archbishop of New York Welcomed to Chicago

CHICAGO, IL [DOM] – On Tuesday, August 20, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest, welcomed His Eminence Archbishop Michael of New York and the Diocese of New York and New Jersey, to Chicago. The Archbishop of New York also serves as the Rector of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, South Caanan, PA, and was accompanied by Archpriest John Parker, Dean of the seminary.

Upon arriving in Chicago, Archbishop Michael and Fr. John were taken to the Diocesan Cathedral, Holy Trinity Cathedral, to venerate the altar and the Chicago Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God. They were greeted by Archpriest Herman Kincaid, Chancellor, and Priest Alexander Koranda, Cathedral Dean.

Following the veneration of icons, the Archbishop was welcomed to the Chancery of the Midwest. Throughout the morning and late into the afternoon, discussions were held about education, diocesan life, and other topics of interest.

The meeting was attended by Archbishop Daniel, Archbishop Michael, Archpriest John, Archpriest Herman Kincaid, Priest Alexander Koranda, Priest Esteban Vasquez, Priest Nicolai Lochmatow. Priest Daniel Greeson and Matthew Namee attended the meeting remotely.

Discussions will resume once again on Wednesday before Archbishop Michael’s departure to New York, NY.
