Archbishop Paul laid to rest at Holy Dormition Monastery

RIVES JUNCTION, MI [DOM] – On Bright Thursday, April 28, His Eminence Archbishop Paul was brought to his final resting place at Holy Dormition Monastery, in Rives Junction, Michigan.

The Divine Liturgy was first held at Holy Transfiguration Church, Livonia, MI, and was led by His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, Archbishop of Washington, Metropolitan of All America and Canada, Archbishop Alexander of Dallas and the South, and the Bulgarian Diocese, Bishop Daniel of Santa Rosa, Administrator to the Diocese of the Midwest, and local clergy from the surrounding area.

Upon arrival at the monastery, Mother Gabriella and the sisterhood of the monastery graciously welcomed all of the guests assembled for the remaining moments before the Archbishop was committed to the earth.

Metropolitan Tikhon, Bishop Daniel, and Bishop Anthony of Toledo led the procession to the monastery cemetery where a memorial service was held. Bishop Anthony and Priest Alexander Koranda offered reflections on their relationship with Archbishop Paul and the lessons that they received from him. Paschal hymns were offered once more and Archbishop Paul was finally laid to rest.

The commemoration of the Fortieth Day of repose will be on Holy Ascension.

May the Archbishop’s memory be eternal. Christ is risen!
