SOUTH CANAAN, PA/YONKERS, NY [DOM] – As the Diocese of the Midwest concludes its annual, “Support Our Seminarians” month, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest visited the Midwest Seminarians at St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary and St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary from Monday, October 20 through Thursday, October 23.
On Monday evening, the Archbishop arrived at St. Tikhon’s Seminary with Archpriest Herman Kincaid, Chancellor, and Priest Alexander Koranda, Cathedral Dean, and gathered the seminarians and their family’s for dinner. On the following day the Archbishop and his staff met with the eight students throughout the morning checking in on their well being and formation.
That afternoon, the Archbishop met with His Eminence Archbishop Michael of New York and the Rector of the seminary. The Archbishop also met with Archpriest John Parker, Dean of the Seminary and Priest Paul Witek, Dean of Academic Affairs.
Following the afternoon meetings, the Archbishop took some time to pray at the grave of Archbishop John (Garklavs), former Archbishop of Chicago.
On Wednesday, October 22, Archbishop Daniel attended the Divine Liturgy at the Three Hierarchs Chapel at St. Vladimir’s Seminary and was greeted at the end of the service by Dr. Ionut Alexandru Tudorie, Dean of the Seminary. The Midwest delegation then met with six of the Midwest seminarians at seminary, once again reviewing their formation and wellbeing. A meeting with the Dean was also held during this time.
The day concluded with Vespers and the families were taken to dinner by the Archbishop.
