Bishop Paul Elevated to Archbishop by Holy Synod

SYOSSET, NY [DOM Communications] – The Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church in America, on the Leavetaking of Pascha, elevated Bishop Paul to the rank of Archbishop.

In a note to diocesan clergy, Archpriest John Zdinak, Chancellor of the Diocese of the Midwest, said, “effective immediately, all commemorations of the Diocesan Bishop should now be His Eminence, the Most Reverend Paul, Archbishop of Chicago and the Midwest.”

His Eminence was consecrated to the Episcopacy and enthroned as Bishop of Chicago and the Midwest at Chicago’s historic Holy Trinity Cathedral on Saturday, December 27, 2014. Since his enthronement, Archbishop Paul has actively visited his communities and summer camps throughout his vast diocese. His Eminence is responsible for starting important diocesan ministries focusing on charity and family.

The Diocesan Chancellor, on behalf of all the clergy and faithful congratulated His Eminence on his elevation and proclaimed, “Axios!”
