DES PLAINS, IL [DOM] – On Sunday, August 11, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest attended Divine Services at Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral, Des Plains, IL. His Eminence was the guest of His Eminence Archbishop Peter of Chicago and Mid-America, who hosted local hierarchs to honor His Eminence Longin, Archbishop of New Gracanica – Chicago and Metropolitan of Midwestern America, who was recently elevated to the rank of Metropolitan.
During the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Longin concelebrated with His Eminence Metropolitan Nicolae of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolia of the Americas, Archbishop Peter, Archbishop Daniel, and clergy from the cathedral. After receiving the Divine Gifts, Archbishop Daniel presented Metropolitan Longin with a panagia in honor of his elevation.
Following the Divine Liturgy, words of welcome and congratulations were offered by Archbishop Peter. A banquet was held in honor of Metropolitan Longin.
