Chicagoland Announces Lenten Services

BURBANK, IL [DOM] – In preparation for Great and Holy Lent, both the Orthodox Christian Clergy Association (OCCA) and the Chicago Deanery of the Diocese of the Midwest, have announced upcoming services.

The OCCA, which is the PAN Orthodox initiative of local clergy in Chicagoland, have named St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, in Cicero, IL as the host of Orthodoxy Sunday Vespers. The Vespers service will be on March 13, at 6:30 P.M. His Grace Bishop Maxim (Vasiljevic) Bishop of Los Angeles and the Western American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church will be the homilist for the evening. Local hierarchs and clergy will concelebrate, while responses will be sung by the PAN Orthodox Choir.

Lenten Vespers will be held weekly at 6:00 P.M. throughout the Chicago Deanery starting the second Sunday of Lent. Service locations include Burr Ridge, IL, Palatine, IL, Merrillville, IN, Williams Bay WI, and conclude in Chicago, IL. After each service, a homilist will preach on the theme of “Great Lent: Renewal of Baptism and Resurrection in Christ”.
