Clergy Wives Retreat on May 20

CHICAGO, IL [DOM] – Clergy wives are invited to attend a ZOOM retreat at 1 pm to 3 pm (EST) on Saturday, May 20 to discuss the topic of Forgiveness. The retreat leader will be Archimandrite Sergius, Abbot of the Monastery of Saint Tikhon of Zadonsk in Pennsylvania. Fr. Sergius is an experienced monk and confessor. As a young man and a convert to the Orthodox Faith he, in his own words, “sought solace” in the monastic life of the Orthodox Church. For many years since then he has taught at Saint Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, both in spiritual formation and in music.

The topic of discussion will be the Paschal hymn “Let God Arise” which calls all to “forgive all by the Resurrection.” Participants hope to explore the topics and find answers to the questions, “Does it mean all the people we know, or all the people in the world”? “Does it refer to wrongs done personally to us and to others, or does it include world events that negatively affect us, even though we don’t know the instigators of those events”? “What part do prayer and confession play in our efforts to forgive and ask for forgiveness”?

Fr. Sergius is a sought-after speaker, and frequently travels to parishes with the Miraculous Icon of St. Anna, giving the faithful a chance to be blessed by venerating it. He is eminently qualified to address the topic of forgiveness, something so vital to our Orthodox faith.
