DAYTON, OH [DOM] – On Saturday, March 29, St Paul the Apostle Church in Dayton, OH hosted Lenten Retreat, bringing together parishioners and guests for a morning of reflection and spiritual growth.
The day began with Divine Liturgy at 9:30 AM. Archpriest Alexander Rentel, who was the guest speaker for the Lenten Retreat, officiated at Divine Liturgy, and offered the sermon as well. Following the service, everyone gathered for lunch. Following lunch, Fr. Alexander Rentel, former Chancellor for the Orthodox Church in America and current assistant professor of canon law at St Vladimir’s Orthodox Seminary, offer a reflection on the life of St Mary of Egypt. His lecture, titled “What Can We Learn from a Formerly Sinful Woman and Prostitute, St. Mary of
Egypt?,” captivated attendees as he explored the theme of repentance and its place in our life in Christ.
St. Mary of Egypt’s story, marked by her dramatic conversion from a sinful life to a life of holiness, served as a powerful reminder that no one is beyond redemption, and that through repentance, we can all grow closer to God. Fr. Alexander’s inspiring words left a lasting impact on all who attended, encouraging them to continue their Lenten journey with a renewed sense of commitment to Christ.
