CHICAGO, IL [DOM Communications] – On January 24, 2021, the feast of the New Martyrs of Russia, Archbishop Paul of Chicago served Divine Liturgy at Christ the Savior Church in Chicago, Illinois. During his pastoral visit, His Eminence ordained Subdeacon Andrew Bender to the deaconate. His Eminence was joined by Archpriest John Baker, Rector of the parish, and Protodeacon Robert Northrup of St. Panteleimon Church in Summit, IL.
Deacon Andrew is a graduate of St. Macrina Institute, which is the diocesan educational program for catechists, and those preparing for the deaconate.
