Diocesan Administrator Appointed

SYOSSET, NY [DOM] – On Tuesday, March 15, 2022, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon and the Holy Synod met for their Regular Spring Session and appointed an administrator to assist His Eminence Archbishop Paul with his work in the diocese.

On March 12, Archbishop Paul wrote to Metropolitan Tikhon requesting temporary assistance within the diocese, and that His Beatitude consider appointing an administrator.

In a letter to Archbishop Paul, Archpriest Alexander Rentel, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America, informed His Eminence that his request was granted, and that Bishop Daniel of Santa Rosa was appointed administrator.

As previously announced, Archbishop Paul was diagnosed with Multiforme Glioblastoma, an aggressive, incurable brain cancer. His Eminence has chosen to proceed with treatment in order to slow the progress of his cancer, for as long as possible.

The diocesan faithful, clergy and laity alike, are asked to continue in fervent prayer for His Eminence Archbishop Paul.
