Diocesan Cathedral Celebrates Altar Feast and Begins 20th Anniversary Festivities

CHICAGO, IL [DOM] – On Holy Spirit Monday, June 24, Holy Trinity Cathedral continued its celebration of its altar feast with the Divine Liturgy and Cross Procession. His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest presided over the festal services.

Serving with Archbishop Daniel were, Priest Alexander Koranda, Cathedral Dean, Mitered Archpriest Vladimir Kovalchuk, Archpriest Herman Kincaid, Archpriest Tarasiy Maxim, Priest Antony Alekseyenko, Priest Nikolai Lochmatow, Priest Jacob Van Sickle, Priest John Kennerk, Priest Joseph Whittaker, Protodeacon Alexander Kichakov, Protodeacon Thomas Keith, and Deacon Samson Nash.

A Cross Procession was held following Divine Liturgy. A festive lunch was held for everyone in the parish hall.

Later that day, Archbishop Daniel served a memorial service for all of those who departed this life since the return of the icon 20 years ago. Following the service, people gathered to watch “The Return of the Icon”, a documentary film about the history of the icon itself, and the icons triumphant journey back to Tikhvin, Russia.
