CHICAGO, IL [DOM] – On Thursday, August 21 and Friday, August 22, the Board of Trustees of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary held their meetings at Holy Trinity Cathedral, Chicago, IL. His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest blessed their gathering, which also welcomed His Eminence Archbishop Michael of New York and New Jersey, Rector of the seminary.
On the first day of the gathering, Thursday, board members gathering for a retreat in the Cathedral and was greeted by Priest Alexander Koranda, Cathedral Dean. Fr. Alexander welcomed those gathered on behalf of Archbishop Daniel and the Cathedral community, highlighting the significant connection between the Cathedral and the seminary by the saints who labored in America. That evening a dinner was held to thank donors and benefactors as well as to highlighted the good work of the seminary.
The next morning began with a moleben service served by Fr. Alexander. Meetings were held throughout the morning and afternoon.
Archpriest John Parker, Seminary Dean, selected Cathedral as a meeting site some time ago due to its history and connection with the saints. These meetings are rarely held off of the seminary campus, but this marks the second time that it was held within the Diocese of the Midwest.
The diocese has 14 seminarians with 9 of them enrolled at St. Tikhon’s Seminary.
