DARIEN, IL [DOM] – The Diocesan Council, under the chairmanship of His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest met for their first meeting of the calendar year on June 1 and June 2.
The Bishop’s Council met in the morning and throughout the afternoon on Thursday. The meeting gathered Archbishop Daniel along with Archpriest Paul Jannakos, Chancellor, and the Deans of the deaneries: Archpriest Andrew Clements, Cleveland Dean; Archpriest Alexander Kuchta; Chicago Dean; Archpriest Timothy Sawchak, Kansas City Dean; Archpriest Dusan Koprivica, Michigan Dean; and Archpriest Paul Wesche, Minneapolis Dean. Later that evening the Finance Committee held a meeting.
On Friday morning, the Diocesan Council held their summer meeting at the Carmelite Spiritual Retreat Center in Darien, IL. The meeting was chaired by His Eminence, Archbishop Daniel. In his report, His Eminence reflected on his travels within the diocese and the rotation of parish visitations that His Eminence is working on. He specifically noted that he has been active in visiting parishes and that they have been a source of joy for him.
The Diocesan Chancellor, Archpriest Paul Jannakos, gave his report noting the his recent travels to Romania and the Holy Land. The Chancellor continued his report on various aspects of diocesan life. Reports were given by the Treasurer, Finance Committee, Metropolitan Council, the Office of the Communications, and the various ministries of the diocese, as well as reports from each deanery.
