Growing Missouri Mission Community Now an Established Church

ST. JAMES, MO [DOM] – Annunciation Church in St. James, Missouri has recently seen its status changed from a “mission” designation to a full parish, or “church” designation. The once mission parish of the diocese has seen tremendous growth over the years both in terms of membership and development of their property.

In an announcement to the community on November 27, Priest Joel Wilson, Rector, stated, “seeing these fruits of more than 12 1/2 years of missionary labor in south central Missouri, after coming to offer talks for our Fall Retreat and serving the first commemoration of St. Olga with us at the end of October, our Archbishop Daniel determined it was time for us to be established as a parish of the Diocese of the Midwest. Glory to God!”

Fr. Joel thanked the Mother of God, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel, and everyone else who has supported the parish over the years. “We feel convicted to take this coming year to rest, reflect, pray, pour out into you all, and then prepare for the even greater spiritual labor of building a permanent temple and planting new missions, in God’s time.”

The parish has recently built new facilities for worship and fellowship, but are in the process of building a temple. For more information on this project or to support this effort, please visit https://annunciationoca.org/giving-back
