“Hope is alive” Cleveland Faithful Come together in Prayer and Support

CLEVELAND, OH [DOM] – On Wednesday, May 29, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest led a service on the grounds of St. Theodosius Cathedral, Cleveland OH.

The Archbishop gathered with local clergy and faith to offer prayers and comfort the faithful of the Cathedral community after the temple suffered significant damage when the roof caught fire on May 28.

Serving with the Archbishop was Priest Jan Cizmar, Cathedral Dean, Archpriest Nicholas Wyslutsky, Dean of Cleveland, Archpriest John Zdinak, Mitered Archpriest Basil Stroyka, Archpriest John Adamcio, Archpriest John Memorich, Archpriest Andrew Bartek, Priest Alexander Koranda, Priest Bryan Crivella, Priest Peter Simko, and Priest Jacob Ponomarenko. The choir was direct by Reader Basil Kochan.

The clergy and faithful sang the Paschal Canon and the Archbishop offered a prayer asking for God’s mercy during this challenging time.

At the conclusion of the service, His Eminence called on the faithful to continue to stay together and support one another. Fr. Jan thanked His Eminence and those gather and reminded everyone that Christ is risen and our hope is alive.

The fire broke out in the afternoon of May 28 around 3:30 p.m. EST. Local fire crews began to fight put out the fire in an effort to save the temple.
