DES PLAINES, IL [DOM] – His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Diocese of the Midwest concelebrated with local hierarchs to commemorate the Frist Martyr Stephen on January 9, 2023. His Eminence Archbishop Peter Chicago and Mid America invited Archbishop Daniel to celebrate this feast and to welcome the miraculous Kurst Root Icon.
The celebration was held at Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral, Des Plaines, IL. Archbishop Daniel concelebrated with His Eminence Metropolitan Nikolai, Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York, His Eminence Archbishop Peter Chicago and Mid America, and His Grace Bishop Longin of New Gracanica and Midwestern America. His Eminence was accompanied by Priest Alexander Koranda, Cathedral Dean.
Following divine services, His Eminence had an opportunity to congratulate Metropolitan Nikolai on his recent election as First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad. The hierarchs discussed a number of topics of mutual interest and congratulated one another on the feast of St. Stephen.
