MILWAUKEE, WI [DOM] – On Monday, November 13, at 6:30 pm, Priest John D. Jones, parish priest at Holy Theophany Mission, Walworth, WI, and Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at Marquette University, will be giving a pre-Advent retreat in person at Saints Cyril and Methodius Church in Milwaukee, WI, and also live on Zoom. His talk is titled: “Moved by Compassion: Christ the Good Samaritan.”
The retreat is taking place on the day after the reading of the “Good Samaritan” parable on Sunday, November 12, the 8th Sunday of Luke this year; also of note, it lands on the feast of St. John Chrysostom, who is well known for his fiery sermons calling the faithful to compassion for the needy. And certainly, what better time to reflect on compassion than when we are about to begin Advent, which is always a time to redouble our efforts of charity and compassion for those in need.
