St Mary’s Cathedral to Celebrate Anniversary of the Repose of St Alexis

MINNEAPOLIS, MN [OCA Communications] – In May St Mary’s Cathedral will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Repose of St Alexis (Toth). St Alexis is very dear to St Mary’s, and of great significance to us and Orthodoxy in America as the pastor who guided this community into the Orthodox Church over one hundred years ago.

The date of the repose of St Alexis is May 7 and we are pleased that our new Metropolitan JONAH will be with us, joining Archbishop JOB in the celebration. Although May 7 is a weekday – Thursday – because this is such an important event in the life of our community, we encourage parents to arrange for their children to miss a day of school and attend the liturgy and lunch that will follow.

We are also pleased to launch the annual St Alexis Lecture series, sponsored by the Cathedral’s Boriss-Hansen committee, and are pleased that His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah will be the inaugural speaker. This will take place following Vespers on Wednesday, May 6.
