Bishop Matthias visits St. Tikhon’s Seminary
SOUTH CANAAN, PA [MW Diocese Communications] — On Monday and Tuesday, December 12 and 13, 2011, His Grace, Bishop Matthias of Chicago and the Midwest visited students at Saint Tikhon’s Seminary here.
During a luncheon presentation on Monday, Bishop Matthias reflected on the first year of his episcopacy. He also shared some of the struggles and joys the students will face upon ordination and assignment to their first parish.
In the evening, Bishop Matthias treated seminarians from the Diocese of the Midwest to dinner.
On the morning of December 13, the feast of St. Herman of Alaska, Bishop Matthias celebrated the Divine Liturgy in Saint Tikhon of Zadonsk Monastery Church, during which he ordained Joel Wilson to the holy diaconate. A son of the Diocese of the Midwest, Joel works closely with the seminary administration on various publications, implementation of the seminary’s intra-mail system, and the seminary web site.
