In Memoriam: Matushka Jeanne M. Homik
PERRYSBURG, OH [MW Diocese Communications] — Matushka Jeanne M. [Timm] Homik, 78, wife of the late Protodeacon Peter Homik, fell asleep in the Lord at the Otterbein Care Center here on Sunday, February 12, 2012.
Born in Cleveland, OH on July 28, 1933, she was a graduate of the Fairview Park School of Nursing and was employed as a registered nurse for over 55 years. She and her husband were married in 1969 at Saint Theodosius Cathedral, Cleveland, where she was a life-long member. She was active in the Cathedral R Club, FOCA Chapter 7, and a member of Saint Mary’s Altar Society. After her husband’s ordination to the diaconate in 1997, she engaged in a variety of parish ministries.
Preceded in death by her husband, who fell asleep in the Lord on December 15, 2006, Matushka Jeanne is also survived by three sons, Peter (Julie), Matthew (Laura), and Melvin Homik; two grandchildren, Alexis and Peter Jack Homik; and brother Melvin (Helga) Timm.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, at Saint Theodosius Cathedral, 733 Starkweather Ave., Cleveland, where a Panikhida will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be celebrated at the cathedral on Friday, February 17, at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Saint Theodosius Cemetery, Brooklyn, OH. The Frank Tkacz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Saint Theodosius Endowment Fund.
