Fr. Thomas Hopko to speak in Chicago area
CHICAGO, IL [MW Diocese Communications] — Protopresbyter Thomas Hopko, Dean Emeritus of Saint Vladimir’s Seminary, Crestwood, NY, will speak at Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 2350 East Dempster St., Des Plaines, IL on Friday, March 23, 2012.  The Salutations Service will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m., with Father Thomas’ lecture, “Orthodox Christianity and Higher Education,” to follow at 8:30 p.m.  The lecture is being funded by Saint Katherine College, Encinitas, CA.
 
On the preceding evening, Thursday, March 22, Father Thomas will deliver a lecture, “From Shadow to Reality: The Biblical Foundations of Christian Liturgical Worship,” at Wheaton College, Room 338, Blanchard Hall, 501 College Ave., Wheaton, IL.  Free of charge and open to the public, the lecture is being sponsored by the Wheaton Center for Early Christian Studies, funded by the Papatheofanis Foundation.  Seating is limited and advanced registration is encouraged at http://www.wheaton.edu/Academics/Departments/Theology/WCECS/Upcoming-Events.
