Cleveland site of April 29 dinner to benefit Hogar Rafael Ayau
CLEVELAND, OH [MW Diocese Communications] — His Grace, Bishop Matthias of Chicago and the Midwest and the Friends of the Hogar Rafael Ayau invite the public to the “Walk With Angels Dinner” for the benefit of the orphanage on Sunday, April 29, 2012.

The benefit dinner, to be held at Ridge Manor Banquet Center, 4630 Ridge Road, Cleveland, will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Mother Ines Ayau of the Orthodox Monastery of the Holy Trinity and the orphanage will be the featured speaker for the evening.  She will share the fascinating story of the orphanage’s establishment and ongoing ministry to the neediest of children.

Located in Guatemala City, Guatemala, the Hogar provides a home for orphans and under-privileged children received from birth to seven years of age.  The children stay until they reach the age of 18, or even older if they wish to stay until they finish college or establish their own families.  The Friends of the Hogar Rafael Ayau, a not-for-profit, helps fund adequate shelter, food, health care, educational, work-study, recreational and spiritual opportunities for the children.  This enables them to live a full life in the safety of the orphanage as they prepare to be adopted by loving families or grow into adulthood and set out to live full and meaningful lives on their own.

For years, Bishop Matthias has traveled regularly to the Hogar, where he offers spiritual and material assistance to Mother Ines and those who minister with her.  Many Orthodox Christians, especially young adults, also have offered their time, talents and treasures at the Hogar.

The banquet donation is $35.00.  Reservations may be made by contacting Carol Schigel at carolschigel@yahoo.com or 440-503-0188, or Angela Skinner at angjo@cox.net or 440-235-1221.
