New OCA chancellor to deliver fourth annual lecture at historic Minneapolis cathedral

MINNEAPOLIS, MN  [MW Diocese Communications] — The 2012 Annual Saint Alexis (Toth) Lecture will take place at the historic Saint Mary’s Cathedral in northeast Minneapolis on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 7:15 p.m.Archpriest John Jillions, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America, will deliver a talk titled “Saint Alexis: Courage, Confidence and the Cross.”  A reception will follow in the parish center.

The Saint Alexis (Toth) Lecture is an annual event sponsored by Saint Mary’s Boriss-Hansen Committee, which is dedicated to furthering educational opportunities for cathedral parishioners and the local Orthodox community.  Previous speakers were His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah; Archimandrite Meletios; and His Grace, Bishop Matthias.

The series is named for the founder of the Orthodox community in Minneapolis over 120 years ago, a great Orthodox missionary and apologist who was glorified by the Orthodox Church in America in 1994.
