St. Tikhon’s Seminary Choir, Dean, visit Ohio parishes

LORAIN, OH [MW Diocese Communications] — The choir of Saint Tikhon’s Seminary, South Canaan, PA, sang at Saints Peter and Paul Church here on Saturday, March 17, 2012, in conjunction with a lenten retreat at which the seminary’s Dean, Archpriest Alexander Atty, spoke.  The invitation to visit the parish had been extended by Archpriest Basil Stoyka, rector.

That evening, the seminary choir sang the responses at Great Vespers at Saint Andrew Church, Maple Heights, OH, at the invitation of Archpriest Emilian Hutnyan, rector and member of the seminary’s Board of Trustees.  On Sunday, March 18, the choir sang the responses at the Divine Liturgy, after which they were treated to a banquet in honor of their visit.

On Sunday evening, Father Alexander and the choir members attended a fundraising banquet at Archangel Michael Church, Broadview Heights, OH, which was hosted by the Chairman of seminary Board of Trustees, Mr. Michael Herzak.  Archpriest John Memorich is the parish’s rector.

During the course of the weekend, over $10,000.00 was to support the seminary.

The choir will visit parishes in the Chicago area during the second weekend of May 2012.

On Saturday evening, May 12, they will sing the responses at Great Vespers at Saints Peter and Paul Church, Burr Ridge, IL, where Priest Herman Kinkaid serves as rector.

The choir will sing the responses at a combined Divine Liturgy, at which His Grace, Bishop Matthias will preside, at Saint Joseph Church, Wheaton, IL, on Sunday, May 13.  The parish is served by Archpriests John Matusiak and Mykola Bodnarchuk and Priest Joseph Kopka.  That evening, the choir will sing at Christ the Savior Church, Chicago, where Priest John Baker is rector.
