CHICAGO, IL [MW Diocese Communications/OCCA] — A concert of sacred music to benefit Petr Gudkov, a soloist with the Sretensky Choir battling Stage IV Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, will be held at Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 5701 North Redwood Drive, Chicago, IL on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at 4:00 p.m.
The concert, which is being held with the blessing of His Grace, Bishop Longin of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of New Gracanica-Midwestern America, will be presented by the Holy Virgin Protection Russian Orthodox Cathedral Pontifical Choir and the Serbian Singing Society Branko Radichevich of Holy Resurrection Cathedral.
Gudkov, a 37-year-old father of two and core member of Moscow’s acclaimed Sretensky Monastery Choir for over 10 years, remained in Chicago following the choir’s concert at Symphony Center in October 2012. He has been undergoing chemotherapy and related treatments in Chicago through the resourcefulness and generosity of the Pan-Orthodox and Russian communities in North America and abroad. He is a candidate for a bone marrow transplant, the cost of which is expected to exceed $150,000.00.
Tickets will be available at the door for $15.00 adults and $5.00 children. There is no charge for children under the age of five years.
Following the concert, refreshments will be served in the cathedral social center.
