Orthodox Christian Parenting Seminar to be presented in Livonia, MI

 

LIVONIA, MI [MW Diocese Communications] — The Mariam Center, located on the campus of Saint Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church here, will be hosting a Parenting Seminar on March 2, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  The public is welcome.

The keynote speaker is Dr. John Chirban, a well-known Orthodox Christian expert and author of several books on the topic.

Dr. John Chirban maintains special interest in integrative studies of medicine, psychology, and religion and serves as clinical instructor in psychology at Harvard Medical School at The Cambridge Health Alliance.  In 2003, he was named Senior Fellow at the Center for the Study of World Religions at Harvard University.  He also serves as professor of psychology and chairman of the Human Development Program at Hellenic College. Dr. Chirban serves as Director of Cambridge Counseling Associates and Director of the Institute of Medicine, Psychology, and Religion in Cambridge, MA.

Dr. Chirban has served on the Advisory Board of the Dr. Phil Show since its inception.  His current research includes a national study on the impact of divorce of children and parents, the survey hosted on Dr. Phil’s website http://drphil.com/speak_main/.  Following a working relationship with B. F. Skinner (The Father of Behaviorism) spanning two decades on psychology and religion, Dr. Chirban is completing a psychohistory of Dr. Skinner based on their extensive library of recorded interviews.

Spiritual Discernment and Differential Diagnosis (Holy Cross Press).  He is a contributor to numerous scientific journals, popular magazines, and a frequent guest of television and radio talk shows.
