Detroit’s Orthodox parishes to sponsor children’s “St. Nicholas Is Santa Claus” party
DETROIT, MI [COCC] — The Council of Orthodox Christian Churches of Metropolitan Detroit [COCC] will sponsor its fifth annual “Saint Nicholas Is Santa Claus,” a Nativity-season children’s party, on Saturday, November 29, 2014 from 1:00 until 3:30 p.m. at Holy Transfiguration Church, 36075 West Seven Mile Road, Livonia, MI.
“The party will feature the story of Saint Nicholas as told by Saint Nicholas himself,” said Richard Shebib, COCC president and chairman of the event. “Children will meet Saint Nicholas and receive a gift while their parents take their pictures. They will do a craft project, and there will be a carol sing-a-long and refreshments.”
Prior to the party, from noon until 1:00 p.m., children will be able to have their pictures taken with live reindeer.
The party is free of charge and open to Orthodox and non-Orthodox children of all ages and their parents. Refreshments will be served. For further information, contact Richard Shebib at 248-345-9346 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The COCC is a 57-year-old clergy and lay association that represents various canonical Orthodox churches in metropolitan Detroit and sponsors a variety of programs in the areas of worship, fellowship, charity, education and outreach. For further information, visit www.coccdetroit.org.
