Detroit’s Orthodox parishes to sponsor children’s “St. Nicholas Is Santa Claus” party

DETROIT, MI [COCC] — The Council of Orthodox Christian Churches of Metropolitan Detroit [COCC] will sponsor its fifth annual “Saint Nicholas Is Santa Claus,” a Nativity-season children’s party, on Saturday, November 29, 2014 from 1:00 until 3:30 p.m. at Holy Transfiguration Church, 36075 West Seven Mile Road, Livonia, MI.

Detroits Orthodox parishes to sponsor childrens St Nicholas Is Santa Claus party“The party will feature the story of Saint Nicholas as told by Saint Nicholas himself,” said Richard Shebib, COCC president and chairman of the event.  “Children will meet Saint Nicholas and receive a gift while their parents take their pictures.  They will do a craft project, and there will be a carol sing-a-long and refreshments.”

Prior to the party, from noon until 1:00 p.m., children will be able to have their pictures taken with live reindeer.
