Diocesan Assembly to be held in conjunction with 18th All-American Council

Diocesan Assembly to be held in conjunction with 18th All-American Council

CHICAGO, IL [MW Diocese Communications] — At the recent Diocesan Council meeting in Chicago January 13, 2015, it was decided, with the blessing of His Grace, Bishop Paul, to convene the 2015 Diocesan Assembly in conjunction with and at the same venue as the 18th All-American Council in Atlanta, GA July 20-24.

The decision was made in an effort to reduce expenses for parishes for whom travel to two separate gatherings would present a challenge.  It is not without precedence, as the Diocesan Assembly had been convened during the 16th All-American Council in Seattle in 2010.

The Assembly will meet in a single session on Monday, July 20, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.  Detailed information on the All-American Council, including travel options, now appear on the web site of the Orthodox Church in America at 18aac.oca.org.  [See related article here.]  Delegates should arrive on Sunday evening and are encouraged to book travel and lodging reservations at their earliest convenience.

It was also decided that the 2015 Clergy Convocation will take place May 11-13 in the Chicago area.  While additional information will be forthcoming, all assigned priests and other diocesan clergy are asked to reserve these dates.

Minutes of the meeting will be posted as they are received.
