Bishop Paul makes archpastoral visit to Minneapolis’ St. Mary’s Cathedral

MINNEAPOLIS, MN [MW Diocese Communications] — His Grace, Bishop Paul of Chicago and the Midwest paid an archpastoral visit to Saint Mary’s Cathedral here November 19 – 22, 2015.

On Thursday, November 19, Bishop Paul met with the Minneapolis Deanery clergy, challenging the brotherhood to think about mission planning.  On Friday, the Vigil for the Great Feast of the Entrance of the Mother of God into the Temple was celebrated at the cathedral, and at Liturgy the next morning many clergy awards were made.  Following a festive brunch, over 90 participants took part in the Midwest Diocese mandatory Youth Protection training, offered by Cindy Heise of the OCA Central Church Administration.  The training is required of all clergy, Church school teachers, parish officers and youth workers in the Diocese of the Midwest.  Following the celebration of Great Vespers on Saturday evening, Bishop Paul and the cathedral clergy shared an informal dinner together.

During Sunday morning’s Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, long-time cathedral Treasurer Warren Griggs was awarded a diocesan grammota, and retired Archpriest Vladimir Lecko, former pastor at the cathedral, was presented with a grammota on behalf of the entire Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America.
